A restaurant self-ordering kiosk lets a guest assemble an order from a picture-led menu, pick modifiers, pay and take a token, with the ticket reaching the kitchen without a cashier retyping it. Ordering journeys in a QSR and a food court

Counter kiosk ordering
The guest chooses dine-in or takeaway, taps through categories with large images, builds combos with modifiers, is offered an upsell at the right moment, pays by cash, card or UPI and collects a printed token. The ticket appears on the kitchen display in seconds. This is the packaged food ordering kiosk.
Food courts with many stalls
One kiosk, one payment, several kitchens: the software has to split a mixed order by stall, send each line to that stall's display and reconcile the takings back to each operator. The ordering solution's KDS integration is the starting point; per-stall routing and settlement rules are scoped in the engagement because every food court's commercial arrangement is different.
Order-ready boards and tokens
Guests wander off with a token and come back when a screen or a WhatsApp message says the order is ready. The queue and token solution provides the boards and the messaging, fed by the same order events the kitchen display uses, so nothing is called twice.
Menu boards from the same menu
Prices and availability shown above the counter should match what the kiosk is selling. Menu-board players built under the Android TV and signage service read the same cloud menu, so a sold-out item disappears from the board and the kiosk together.
Table-side and drive-through
Casual-dining formats put a locked-down tablet on the table for reorders; drive-through lanes need a simplified flow with a short timeout. The ordering solution supports a drive-through mode, and the tablet application comes from the tablet app development service.
Loyalty, coupons and crew self-service
Points redemption and coupon codes are applied on the kiosk before payment. Behind the counter, crew members use an ESS kiosk to check shifts, download payslips and apply for leave, which matters in an industry where most staff have no desk and no work email.
What a restaurant self-ordering kiosk has to handle at lunch
Lunch is a stress test that repeats every day. The four conditions below decide whether the kiosk is still switched on next month.
The lunch rush without the internet
Menu, images, prices and modifiers are cached on the kiosk, and the kitchen display sits on the same local network, so ordering and cooking continue when the broadband fails. Cash keeps working. Card and UPI need a connection, so the payment screen has to disable them honestly for the duration instead of spinning. Orders taken offline post to the cloud POS afterwards, once each, so sales reports and inventory stay correct. AtashiTech builds every kiosk application on this offline-first basis.

Kitchen, POS and payment integrations
The POS remains the system of record for sales and tax; the kitchen display system receives tickets and returns ready events; the payment gateway, whether Razorpay, Pine Labs or another provider, settles cards and UPI; the loyalty platform holds points; and the inventory or recipe system marks items sold out. Many chains also take delivery-aggregator orders through the same kitchen display, so the kiosk has to share it politely. Allergens, receipts and accessibility
Food regulation in India expects allergen and nutritional information to be available to the guest, and the ordering solution displays it per item. Receipts must carry the tax breakdown a GST invoice requires. Card data stays inside the terminal. Accessibility for a self-ordering screen means image-led navigation that works without reading, a language switch on the first screen, reach-friendly placement of the payment step and a timeout that clears the basket for the next guest without losing a paid order.
Counter-top, pedestal, wall or lane
The restaurant self-ordering kiosk software runs on whatever the format calls for: a counter-top unit in a small outlet, a floor pedestal in a food court, a wall-mounted screen where floor space is scarce, or a drive-through lane unit. AtashiTech does not manufacture any of them. The Windows kiosk EXE is installed on the PC inside, locked down so guests cannot leave the application, restarted by a watchdog if it ever stops, and updated through an installer the operator controls.
A chain changes prices, adds a seasonal item or runs out of an ingredient several times a week. The central kiosk management platform pushes menu and price updates to every outlet, watches printer paper and uptime, and alerts head office when a kiosk stops responding. Ongoing changes and fixes are covered by an annual maintenance contract under consulting and AMC support.
