What is safety training kiosk software?
Safety training kiosk software delivers a site's mandatory induction at the point of entry and keeps the gate shut until the worker has passed it. A worker arrives, identifies themselves at a touch screen near the gatehouse, watches the induction for the site and the hazards they will be exposed to, acknowledges the personal protective equipment rules, answers an assessment, and receives a dated certificate carrying a QR code. The result of that assessment is what the access control reads. Nobody is inducted by a supervisor with a clipboard on a busy Monday morning, and nobody signs a register for a session they did not attend, because the record is created by the software as the person completes each step.

An induction nobody can prove happened is an induction that did not happen
Most sites already run safety inductions. What they usually cannot do is produce, on demand, the evidence that a named person completed a specific version of the induction on a specific date.
The old way
A safety officer gathers whoever turned up into a room, plays a video, hands round an attendance sheet and lets people sign. The sheet goes into a lever-arch file. Latecomers are inducted "later", which sometimes means never. Someone who does not read the language of the video sits through it politely and understands none of it. There is no comprehension check, so attendance is treated as competence. Refresher dates live in a spreadsheet that only one person maintains.
After an incident the file has to prove three things: that the person was inducted, that they were inducted on content covering the hazard involved, and that they understood it. A signature on a sheet proves the first, weakly, and neither of the others. Meanwhile the safety officer spends the first hour of every day running a session instead of walking the site, and the gate cannot tell an inducted worker from an uninducted one because the badge looks identical either way.
The AtashiTech way
Safety training kiosk software moves the induction to the gate and makes a pass a precondition of entry. The worker chooses their language, is shown the induction assigned to their trade and the areas they will work in, and cannot skip forward through the video. The assessment that follows is drawn from a question bank, so answers cannot be memorised and passed back along the queue. A pass writes a certificate with an expiry date and releases the turnstile; a fail offers a retake and, if the retake fails, holds the worker for the safety officer.
The record it creates is the audit trail: who, which induction version, which language, which questions, what score, at what time, with a photograph. Refreshers are scheduled by the system rather than remembered, and an expired induction closes access automatically instead of being noticed at the next audit. Because the application runs locally on the kiosk, a lost internet connection at a remote site does not stop inductions; results and certificates upload when the link returns.
How it works
Four steps at the gate, and one of them decides whether the turnstile turns. The worker sees a single screen sequence; the EHS team sees a completed record.
Identify and assign
The worker scans an ID document, an employee card or a QR code from an invitation, or types their details if this is a first visit. The software looks up their trade, employer and the areas they are cleared for, and selects the induction modules that apply to that combination rather than showing everybody the same generic film.
Deliver the induction
Video, slides and site-specific content play in the language the worker picks. Fast-forward is disabled, and the player records how much of each module was actually watched. PPE requirements appear as a separate acknowledgement screen confirmed item by item, not as one blanket tick.
Assess comprehension
Questions are pulled at random from a bank tied to the modules that were shown, with a pass mark you set. A wrong answer can be configured to replay the relevant section before the retake. The attempt, the questions asked and the answers given are all stored, so the record shows understanding rather than attendance.
Certify and release
A pass prints a certificate or badge carrying a QR code and an expiry date, writes the result to the worker's record and signals the gate controller to allow entry. A fail routes the worker to the safety officer instead of the turnstile, with the reason on screen for both of them.

Multilingual induction content
Video, slides and images per module, each with its own language tracks and subtitles. The worker picks a language on the first screen and the whole session follows it, including the questions and the certificate.
Assessment engine
Question banks per module, randomised selection, a configurable pass mark, limited retakes and optional replay of the section a worker got wrong. Scores and answers stay attached to the attempt.
Digital certificates with QR codes
A pass issues a certificate with a validity period, a unique reference and a QR code that a supervisor can scan anywhere on site to confirm what the holder is inducted for and until when.
Pass or fail gate integration
The induction result is handed to the access control system, so a turnstile, boom barrier or door releases only for a worker whose induction is current. An expired certificate closes access without anyone having to remember to revoke it.
PPE acknowledgement
The protective equipment required for the areas the worker will enter is presented for individual confirmation, and the acknowledgement is stored as part of the induction record rather than as a paper annexe.
Refresher scheduling and reminders
Every certificate carries an expiry. The system warns the worker, their employer and the EHS team before it lapses, and can require a shortened refresher module instead of the full induction.
Audit-ready training logs
Every session is recorded with the module version, the language, the questions asked, the score, the timestamp and a photograph taken at the kiosk. Records export for an audit or an incident investigation without assembling anything by hand, in the structure an ISO 45001 auditor expects to be shown.
HR, EHS and contractor system links
Worker and employer records can be read from an HRMS or a contractor management system, so the kiosk is not a second place to maintain a list of people, and results can be written back for the site's own reporting. Hardware and integrations
A gate induction kiosk has to read an identity, show a film, take a photograph, print a certificate and speak to a turnstile. Each of those is a device on the parts list, and the application wraps every one behind a status-reporting interface so a fault appears as a specific message rather than a frozen screen.
What each device does in the induction
Every peripheral in the enclosure exists because a step of the induction needs it. The table sets out what each one contributes and what happens when it is unavailable, which is the question a site EHS manager asks before signing off the design.

Where safety training kiosk software is used
Anywhere a worker can be hurt by something nobody told them about, and where somebody afterwards has to prove they were told.
Manufacturing plants
Machine guarding, lockout-tagout, chemical handling and emergency assembly points differ by shop, so the induction differs by the area a worker is entering. Plants usually pair the gate kiosk with our contractor induction and site access kiosk so third-party workers are also checked for licences and permits before the turnstile releases.
Construction and infrastructure sites
Labour turnover is high and the hazard profile changes as the project moves through its phases. Content is versioned, so a worker inducted during excavation is required to take the updated induction when the site moves to structural work, and expiry rules follow the project rather than the calendar.
Oil, gas, chemicals and power
Sites with permit-controlled areas need the induction result to be readable by the permit system, not only by the gate. Confined space, hot work and work at height can be issued as separate certificates, so a worker is cleared for one activity and not another.
Warehouses and logistics yards
Visiting drivers are often the least inducted people on a busy yard. A gate kiosk gives a driver a short vehicle-movement and PPE induction while the paperwork is checked; where the yard also queues trucks for bays, the queue management and token kiosk handles the waiting.
Mining and quarrying
Remote locations with unreliable connectivity are exactly where a locally-running Windows application matters. The kiosk inducts, assesses and certifies with no network at all, and central records catch up when the site link is available.
Facilities and corporate campuses
Maintenance crews, cleaning contractors and equipment vendors all need a short induction before they work in occupied buildings. Where those people are visitors rather than site workers, the visitor management kiosk handles the check-in and the induction runs as part of the same journey.
Deployment, offline operation, AMC and remote management

Deployment
Installation starts with content: your existing induction material is loaded as modules, split by area and trade, and the question bank is written with your safety team rather than supplied as generic filler. Languages, pass marks, retake limits, certificate validity and the gate behaviour on a fail are configured per site. We normally run the kiosk alongside the existing session for the first week, so the safety officer can compare records before the classroom stops.
Offline operation
The application, the video content, the question bank and the local records all live on the kiosk. If the site loses its connection, inductions continue, certificates print and the gate still receives a pass or fail, because none of that depends on a server elsewhere. Results, photographs and audit records synchronise when the link returns, and the console shows which kiosks are behind.
Annual maintenance contract
Safety content changes after every incident review, and hardware in a gatehouse takes a beating. An AMC through our consulting and AMC support service covers software updates, driver and SDK changes as printers or readers are replaced, and support for the EHS team when a module or a rule has to change. Terms are agreed per customer.
Remote management
A group EHS function running several plants needs to publish a revised induction everywhere at once and see that every gate has taken it.
