What is a doctor prescription app?
A doctor prescription app lets a doctor write a prescription on a phone or tablet instead of a paper pad, and hand it to the patient as a clean, printed-quality PDF. The doctor types the patient's name and age, adds the medicines with their morning, afternoon and night doses and any instructions, and the app lays it out on the clinic's own letterhead, numbers it, saves it and sends it to the patient on WhatsApp.
AtashiTech's doctor prescription app is an Android app built for doctors in private practice and small clinics in India. It is in daily use by a consultant physician, and we set it up for each new doctor with their name, registration number, clinics, logo and signature, so every prescription looks like it came from their own pad. It works on the phone itself, with no website to log in to and no monthly server to depend on.
The app is a writing and sharing tool. It does not suggest medicines or doses, and the doctor stays responsible for what is prescribed.
Why the paper prescription pad lets doctors down
Most prescriptions in Indian clinics are still written by hand on a printed pad, and the problems are the same everywhere.
The old way
The doctor writes quickly between patients, and the chemist, the patient or a relative has to read the handwriting later. The patient loses the slip, or photographs it badly, and calls the clinic to ask what the third tablet was. When the patient comes back for a repeat, the doctor writes the whole list again. There is no record of what was prescribed on which day unless someone keeps a carbon copy, and finding last month's prescription for one patient means searching through a drawer. Printed pads run out, and changing a clinic's timings means reprinting them.
The AtashiTech way
The doctor fills a short form on the phone and the app produces a typed, one-page A4 prescription on the clinic's letterhead. It is saved on the phone and sent to the patient's WhatsApp in a couple of taps, so the patient always has a clear copy. Every prescription gets its own number and is kept in a searchable history, and a repeat is one tap: the app fills a new prescription with the same medicines, ready to adjust.
How the doctor prescription app works
Four steps, all on the doctor's own Android phone.
We set up your letterhead
We load your name, qualification line, registration number, phone, email, up to two clinics, your logo and your signature, and match the layout of the pad you use today.
Fill the form
Type the patient's name, age and, if you want to send it on WhatsApp, their mobile number. Add each medicine with its morning, afternoon and night dose and a line of instructions.
Create the PDF
The app lays the prescription out on one A4 page with the date, time and prescription number, and saves it to the phone's Downloads folder.
Share it
Send it straight to the patient's WhatsApp chat, or share it to any other app, print it, or open it on screen.
What the app does
Everything a busy outpatient session needs, and nothing that slows the doctor down.
Medicines in the familiar format
Each medicine has its name, its morning, afternoon and night dose in the 1-0-1 style doctors already write, and an instructions line such as "after food" or "for 5 days". Up to 12 medicines fit on one page.
Medicine names remembered
The app learns the medicine names you type and suggests them next time, so your regular prescriptions are quick to write and spelled the same way every time.
Numbered prescriptions
Every prescription gets a number of the form RX/2026/0001, counted per year, printed on the page and used as the file name. A number is used only when a PDF is actually created.
WhatsApp in two taps
With a patient's mobile number, the PDF opens directly in their WhatsApp chat, on WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business. The mobile number is used only for sending and is never printed on the prescription.
History and repeat
Every prescription is kept in a history you can search by patient name, mobile or prescription number. Open any entry to rebuild its PDF exactly as issued, or tap Repeat to start a new one with the same medicines.
Medical certificates
A second tab writes a medical certificate on the same letterhead: type the text, and the app fits it to one page with its own CERT number, ready to share like a prescription.
Your signature and logo
Your signature is printed above the footer with your name beneath it, and your clinic logo sits in the header. Either can be changed or left off.
Two clinics on one pad
Doctors who consult in two places can show both clinics, with their addresses and timings, on the same letterhead.
Runs on the doctor's own phone
No computer, printer or internet connection is needed to write a prescription. WhatsApp needs data only to send it.
Patient data stays on the doctor's phone
The doctor prescription app has no server and no account. Patient names, ages, mobile numbers and medicines are stored only on the doctor's phone, and leave it only when the doctor shares a prescription. We do not see them, and nothing is sent to us. Because the history rebuilds each PDF from its record, the history takes little space on the phone.
The letterhead settings are protected by a PIN, so a staff member using the phone cannot change the doctor's name, registration number or signature. Your phone's own screen lock protects the history, and an uninstall removes it, so keep the phone locked and the app installed.
| Area | What the app does | Who decides |

Who uses a doctor prescription app
Doctors in private practice
General physicians, diabetologists, paediatricians and other consultants who see patients in their own clinic and want typed, numbered prescriptions without buying a full clinic system.
Doctors who consult in more than one place
A doctor who sits in a diagnostic centre in the morning and their own clinic in the evening carries one letterhead with both, on the phone that is always with them.
Small clinics
Clinics that are not ready for a full hospital system can start with prescriptions on the phone, and add front-desk registration later with our patient registration and screening software or walk-in tokens with our queue management software. Clinics that want patients followed up at home can look at our remote patient monitoring software.
Getting the doctor prescription app
Send us a photo or scan of your current prescription pad, your registration number, your clinics and timings, your logo and a signature on white paper. We set up the doctor prescription app with your letterhead, install it on your Android phone, and print a test prescription with you before your first patient. Updates are installed over your copy, so your history and numbering carry on. Changes to the letterhead, such as a new clinic or new timings, are made by us on request. A clinic that needs something more, such as its own fields, other languages or records shared between doctors, can have it built by our app development team, with ongoing help from our AMC support service.
Put your prescription pad on your phone
Tell us your name, your clinics and how many patients you see in a day. We will set up the app with your letterhead and install it on your phone.
