What is worker induction software?
Worker induction software delivers a site's induction to every worker before they start, records that they completed and understood it, and ties that record to the gate so that nobody works on site without it. The word changes with the country. Australia and New Zealand say worker induction or site induction; the United Kingdom says site induction; the United States says safety orientation; Canada says worker orientation. The need is the same everywhere: a worker, employed, agency or self-employed, must be told the site's hazards and rules before they are exposed to them, and the site must be able to prove it.
AtashiTech's worker induction software runs on an Android tablet kiosk, a Windows kiosk application, a browser kiosk on any device and the worker's own phone through a QR code with nothing to install, with a web portal for the safety team. It is one edition of the same platform as our contractor induction software and employee induction software: the difference is who is being inducted and what the site asks of them before the pass is valid. You can ask for a 14-day free trial from this page: we set up your account and email your login details.
One obligation, many names
Whatever the regulation calls it, an inspector asks the same three questions: was the worker inducted, when, and did they understand it.
Australia and New Zealand
Worker induction under the work health and safety regimes, where the business running the site must provide information, training and instruction. General construction induction cards sit alongside the site-specific induction.
United Kingdom and Ireland
Site induction under the construction and workplace safety regulations, where the principal contractor must make sure every worker receives a suitable induction. Card schemes are checked alongside it.
United States
Safety orientation under OSHA standards, with site-specific hazard communication and the training records an inspector asks for after an incident.
Gulf states
Worker induction under the national occupational safety frameworks, with major operators and large projects applying their own HSE standards on top. The languages of the workforce matter as much as the rule itself.
India and elsewhere
Induction and safety training expected under factory and building-work rules, often delivered to large crews in Hindi and regional languages. The site's registration form can ask for whatever card or ID details it needs, with a photo of the ID.
What goes wrong with a morning induction
The induction given at nine to people who started at seven
Workers arrive when the shift starts; the supervisor who gives the induction is already on the floor. The induction happens when someone is free, which is after exposure, not before it. A worker inducted at another site of the same company assumes it carries over, and so does the supervisor. The attendance sheet records a signature, not comprehension, and it lives in a folder that is not where the inspector is standing.
The induction the gate will not skip
With induction software the worker registers on the kiosk or their own phone, watches the site's lessons in their own language and answers a short timed test. A pass issues a certificate with a QR code. At the gate the QR is scanned and the system knows who this is, whether they are inducted and whether their entry was approved, and it records the time in and the time out. When a whole crew starts together, the supervisor plays the lessons once on the kiosk and every worker takes the test on their own phone. Supervisors stop reading inductions aloud and start checking that they were done.
Four steps, in the worker's own language
Register
The worker scans the site's QR poster or uses the kiosk, enters an invitation code if they were invited, and fills in the fields the site asks for: employer, trade, ID type and number with a photo of the ID, and a photo of themselves. A worker who has been before is recognised by mobile number and only confirms their details.
Watch and answer
The site's induction lessons play on the kiosk, video first and the document after, in the language chosen on the first screen. A timed test follows with a pass mark set by the site. Where a site decides a group needs no test, the certificate is issued straight after the lessons.
Certificate and pass
A pass issues a certificate as a PDF with a QR code. The worker keeps it on their phone; the site keeps the record of every attempt and answer. Where approval is required, the pass waits for it.
Scan at the gate
The QR is scanned on the kiosk, a USB scanner or a guard's phone. An inducted and approved worker is signed in with a time stamp; anything missing is shown on screen. Sign-out is the same scan on the way out.
What is included
Your lessons, your test
Upload videos and PDFs, group them into modules for workers, contractors, vendors or employees, and build the test from a question bank. A built-in AI question writer drafts questions from your own documents for you to review before they are used.
In the worker's language
Lessons and tests in the languages your workforce speaks, chosen on the kiosk's first screen. The portal translates the question bank with AI, and its video studio turns your slides into a narrated lesson video per language.
Group training
A trainer plays the lessons once on the kiosk for a whole crew, then shows a QR code. Each worker scans it, takes the test on their own phone and downloads their certificate and pass.
QR certificate and gate pass
One QR code is both the proof of induction and the sign-in pass. Guards verify it on the kiosk, with a USB scanner or with their phone.
Invitations and approval
Invite workers in advance with a six-digit code, and route entry through up to two levels of approval. Approvers decide from a one-tap email link or in the Android app.
Face and fingerprint
Optional face sign-in on the kiosk, with consent recorded, and fingerprint sign-in on the Windows kiosk for sites that want it.
Quizzes and Hazard Hunter
Short safety quizzes by QR with a leaderboard, and a spot-the-hazard game on the kiosk that keeps the rules fresh after induction.
Grievance and speak-up
Workers raise a grievance, give feedback or report a concern anonymously from the kiosk or a phone page, with an optional photo, and the site team reviews it in the portal.
Audit-ready records
Exam results with every answer, people history across visits, certificates and gate scans, filtered by site and date and exported to Excel.
Multi-site
Each site has its own QR poster, kiosks and on-site list, and the dashboard shows one site or all of them.
Offline kiosk
The Android tablet and Windows kiosk apps keep inducting and signing people in without a connection, and sync when it returns.
Safety assistant
An AI assistant on the kiosk answers questions from your own site rules and manuals, by text or voice, and says when it does not know.
Available on every device at the gate
One subscription, one worker record, whichever hardware the site already has.
The 14-day trial runs on Android tablets, Windows kiosks, the browser kiosk and the phone QR pages, which cover every feature. iPad and iPhone apps are built on request for customers who need them.
Sites with a changing workforce
Construction and civil works
Induction at the site entrance with ID capture and a record of who signed in each day for the site diary.
Agriculture and seasonal work
Short, video-led inductions in several languages for crews who change every week, delivered as group training.
Warehousing and logistics
Forklift zones, loading-bay rules and traffic plans, with the induction done before the first shift and the gate scan on every entry.
Manufacturing plants
Agency and casual labour inducted on the plant's own rules, with face or fingerprint sign-in where badges get lost.
Events and venues
Large casual crews registered by QR and inducted in groups before the event, then scanned in at the staff entrance on the day.
Ports and shipyards
Induction and sign-in for crews and visiting trades on one kiosk at the gate, working offline when the connection fails.
From trial request to first inducted worker
Request the trial from this page. We set up your account and email your portal login, with a demo site and sample lessons, so the whole flow can be seen before anything is uploaded. Replace the samples with your own videos or PDFs, set up the worker types and the fields each must fill in, print the site's QR poster and send the first invitation. The browser kiosk works at once; the tablet and Windows apps are activated with a kiosk login from the portal.
Sites that want help producing induction videos, translating lessons or connecting turnstiles can ask during the trial. That is done by the team behind our safety training kiosk software and does not change the product you are trialling. For guests and suppliers rather than workers, see the visitor management software and the vendor induction software, which share the same account.
Need it shaped to your company?
The subscription covers the common journey. When your process, hardware or systems are different, we build a customised version for you.
Every customer starts with the same product and configures it from the portal: fields, rules, languages, branding and devices. Some organisations need more than configuration: trade-card and licence expiry checks at the gate, periodic refresher training, an evacuation roster, work permits, a flow that follows your own approval chain, integration with your HR, ERP or access-control system, a specific badge printer or turnstile, or hosting in a particular country. Those are customised versions of the same product, built on request, scoped to your requirement and delivered by the team behind our safety training kiosk solutions. Larger estates, multi-country groups and public-sector buyers usually take this route, with a pilot first and a contract that names what is being built.
Tell us what is different about your site and we will come back with a scope, not a sales pitch.
