Patient and staff journeys a hospital kiosk can take over
Each journey below maps to a packaged piece of hospital kiosk software. Most hospitals begin with registration and tokens and add the rest as the front desk quietens down.
Self-registration and appointment check-in
A new patient scans an Aadhaar QR or another identity document and the kiosk fills in demographics for confirmation; a returning patient enters a mobile number or scans the appointment QR from the hospital app. Arrival is marked in the HIS and the patient moves on with a token instead of waiting for a registration clerk. The patient registration kiosk covers both flows, along with the insurance card scan that usually accompanies them.
OPD tokens and waiting-area displays
Patients pick a department or a consultant, receive a printed or SMS token, and follow their position on waiting-area boards driven by the same application. Priority handling for senior citizens and appointment holders is a configuration setting rather than a separate system. This is the queue management and token kiosk.
Symptom screening and vitals capture
A configurable multilingual questionnaire routes the patient to the right speciality and flags high-severity answers to triage staff. Where a clinic wants pre-consultation vitals, the kiosk reads a connected blood-pressure monitor, pulse oximeter or weighing scale and attaches the readings to the visit record in the EMR.
Bill payment, deposits and pharmacy dues
Outpatient bills, admission deposits and diagnostic charges can be settled by cash, card or UPI at a lobby kiosk that prints a receipt and posts the payment back to billing. End-of-day reconciliation and automatic reversal of failed transactions come from the bill payment and collection kiosk.
Ward and ICU visitor passes
Visiting hours are enforced by software rather than by a guard with a register. The visitor enters the patient name, is photographed, receives a time-limited badge, and the nursing station is notified. The visitor management kiosk also keeps the evacuation list and runs the watchlist check that hospital security teams ask for.
Self-service for nurses and support staff
Nurses, ward attendants and housekeeping teams rarely have a desk or a company laptop. An employee self-service kiosk near the duty room lets them view shifts, download payslips, apply for leave and raise an attendance correction after a biometric login.

Running through a network outage
The HIS link, the internet connection and the hospital LAN all fail at some point, usually during the busiest hour of the morning. The kiosk must keep registering patients and issuing tokens from its local state, queue the HIS updates, and reconcile them when the connection returns without creating duplicate medical record numbers in the process. The kiosk is only useful if the HIS or HMIS, the EMR, the appointment scheduler and the billing module see what it does. Every hospital's HIS is configured differently, so the field mapping between kiosk screens and HIS records is a defined work package in the engagement rather than an assumption. Compliance, privacy and accessibility
NABH assessors look for a dependable patient-identification step and an audit trail; groups with overseas operations apply HIPAA-style controls; and India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act governs consent for and retention of the personal data captured at the kiosk. In practice that means consent screens in the patient's own language, automatic clearing of the display on timeout, encryption of anything stored locally, and role-based access to the logs. Accessibility matters in a hospital more than almost anywhere else: reach ranges for wheelchair users, large type, audio prompts for patients with low vision, and a help button that summons a person without abandoning the session in progress.
Any enclosure, one Windows kiosk application
AtashiTech does not manufacture kiosks. The software runs on whatever the hospital procures: a floor-standing pedestal in the lobby, a counter-top unit at the OPD desk, a wall-mounted screen in a ward, or a locked-down tablet at a nursing station. What stays constant is the hospital kiosk software itself: a Windows kiosk EXE with secure lockdown, watchdog restart and an installer that the hospital's IT team can deploy and update.
Once more than a handful of units are live, the hospital needs to know which printer is out of paper before a patient does. The central kiosk management platform reports uptime, paper and fault alerts across every floor and site, and pushes updated department lists or consultant rosters to all kiosks at once. After go-live, the deployment is covered by an annual maintenance contract through consulting and AMC support.

Roll out and support
Remaining floors and sites go live in batches, staff are trained on the assist workflows, monitoring is switched on, and the AMC takes over for updates, fixes and roster changes for as long as the kiosks are in service.
