What is walk-in queue management software?
Walk-in queue management software replaces the paper ticket roll and the receptionist's memory with a token the customer gets on their own phone or from a tablet at the door, a staff screen that calls the next person with one tap, and a display that shows who is being served. It is for places where people arrive without an appointment and wait their turn: walk-in clinics, dental and physio practices that take walk-ins, pharmacies, blood-test labs, vet clinics, bank and telecom counters, repair desks and government service centres.
AtashiTech's walk-in queue software, NextQueue, is a subscription product. A customer scans a QR poster, gives a name and a phone number, chooses a service, and gets a token with a live page showing how many people are ahead. Staff call the next token from a tablet or a browser. A screen reads "Now serving A-018, counter 2". Nothing clinical is stored, and personal details are deleted hours after the visit. Ask for a 14-day free trial from this page: we set up your account and email your login details, with a sample venue ready the moment you sign in. No card.
The waiting room nobody can see
How a small venue runs its queue today
People take a numbered paper ticket, or they do not, and the receptionist keeps the order in her head between phone calls. Someone steps outside for air and loses their place. A customer who has waited forty minutes asks how much longer and the honest answer is a guess. The person at the counter has no idea how many are waiting behind the door. At the end of the day nobody knows the average wait, the busiest hour, or how many people left without being served. The systems that fix this were built for hospitals and banks and are priced for them.
How it works with NextQueue
The customer joins the queue in ten seconds from the QR poster at the door, or on the tablet, or reception adds them with two taps. Their phone shows the token, the number now being served and the people ahead, and chimes when they are next, so they can wait in the car or the café next door. Staff see the whole queue, call the next person by service, mark no-shows, and transfer someone from consultation to billing without a new ticket. The board on the wall shows what is being served. The report at the end of the day shows waits, volumes and the busy hours, so staffing can follow the pattern instead of the complaints.
From the door to the counter in four steps
Join
Scan the QR poster, or tap the tablet at the door, or let reception add you. Choose a service such as Consultation, Blood test or Pharmacy, enter a name and a phone number, and receive a token like A-018. Customers without a phone get a token on the tablet and can print it on the venue's printer.
Wait anywhere
The phone page shows the token, the number now being served, how many are ahead and an estimated wait. It chimes and vibrates when you are next and turns green with the counter number when you are called. Closed the page? Type the token into the venue's page to see it again.
Call next
Staff sign in to a counter on a tablet or in a browser and press Call next, Recall, No show, Done or Transfer. Priority flags move elderly, disabled or urgent customers up the lane. A chime sounds when a new token joins.
Now serving
Any television or monitor shows "Now serving A-018, counter 2" with the next tokens, a chime and an optional spoken announcement in the venue's language. Open the board link in the TV's browser, or run it in the NextQueue app on an Android TV box.
What you get in the trial
QR join, no app
A printable poster per venue or per service. The customer's own phone browser does the rest; nothing to install.
Tablet at the door
Large-text, one-screen join flow on an Android tablet, with a path for customers who have no phone and a Print button for the venue's existing printer.
Services, lanes and counters
Define services and counters; one counter can serve several services; tokens carry a prefix per service and reset at local midnight.
Staff screen
Call next, Recall, No show, Done, Transfer, Add walk-in and Pause counter, with waiting counts and the oldest wait in view. Works in a browser or the Android app.
Live phone page
Position, estimate, chime when next, green screen when called, and an optional free browser notification so the page can stay in the background.
Token lookup
Lost the page? Type the token on the venue's public page and see the same status. Limited to today's tokens and never shows anyone's name.
Now-serving board
Runs on any Android TV, TV box, smart-TV browser or PC, with chime and spoken token, and keeps showing the last state if the network drops.
Priority and transfer
Priority flags per venue, and transfer between services so a visit that goes from consultation to billing stays one record.
Opening hours
The queue opens and closes with the venue's hours and shows a message outside them.
Reports
Tickets per day, hour, service and counter; average and longest wait; service time; no-show rate; busiest hours; export to CSV for Excel.
Minimal data, short retention
Name, phone and a reason category only; no clinical details. Personal fields are deleted a set number of hours after the visit; statistics stay.
Several venues, one account
Each venue has its own services, counters, staff, hours and branding; head office sees all of them.
Runs on what the venue already has
Customers use their phones. Staff use a tablet or a browser. The board is any television.
The 14-day trial runs on the phone QR pages, the web version and the Android app. A Windows PC at the door simply opens the kiosk link in its browser. The iPad app is the same product and is installed for paying customers during onboarding, because Apple distributes business apps through a developer account set up per deployment.
Built to hold as little as possible
A queue at a clinic reveals that someone was at a clinic, so the product is designed around the minimum. It asks for a name, a phone number and a reason category chosen from a list the venue defines; it never asks for symptoms, dates of birth or identity numbers. A privacy notice is shown before the join form. Personal fields are deleted automatically a set number of hours after the visit, leaving only counts and times for the reports. The lookup page is limited to today's tokens and never shows a name. Venues can export a visitor's data or erase it by phone number on request. A data-processing agreement is available to every customer, and venues in the United States are offered a standard business-associate agreement.
Anywhere people wait their turn
Walk-in and dental clinics
Consultation, follow-up and billing lanes, with elderly patients prioritised and the board calling tokens, not names.
Pharmacies and labs
Drop off a prescription or a sample, wait in the car, come back when the phone says so.
Banks and telecom shops
Token counters by service, with reports on which hour needs another desk.
Government service centres
Multi-service queues and large now-serving boards, offered as customised versions with Arabic and local-language screens.
Repair and service desks
Phone and device repair counters where customers would rather browse than stand in line.
Restaurant waiting lists
A table queue on the guest's phone, next to the restaurant QR ordering once they are seated.
Need it shaped to your organisation?
The subscription covers the common walk-in journey. Larger or regulated organisations usually need more.
Integration with a practice-management or hospital system so arrivals update the patient record, appointment check-in alongside walk-ins, multi-site balancing, Arabic and right-to-left screens, feedback surveys after the visit, intake forms under a signed data agreement, or a board layout in your own design: those are customised versions of the same product, scoped to your requirement and delivered by the team behind our queue management kiosk solutions and patient registration kiosk software. Tell us what is different about your venue and we will come back with a scope, not a sales pitch.
Try it at your venue for 14 days
