What is worker induction software?
Worker induction software delivers a site's induction to every worker before they start, records that they completed and understood it, and ties that record to the gate so that nobody works on site without it. The word changes with the country. Australia and New Zealand say worker induction or site induction under the WHS and HSWA regimes; the United Kingdom says site induction and expects it under CDM; the United States says safety orientation and ties it to OSHA training requirements; Canada and Ireland use both. The need is the same everywhere: a worker, employed or self-employed, must be told the site's hazards and rules before they are exposed to them, and the site must be able to prove it.
AtashiTech's worker induction software is a subscription product that runs on an iPad, an Android tablet, a Windows kiosk application, a web browser and the worker's own phone through a QR code with nothing to install. It is one edition of the same platform as our contractor induction software and employee induction software: the difference is who is being inducted and what the site checks before the pass is valid. You can ask for a 14-day free trial from this page: we set up your account and email your login details.
One obligation, six names
Whatever the regulation calls it, an inspector asks the same three questions: was the worker inducted, when, and did they understand it.
Australia and New Zealand
Worker induction under the Work Health and Safety Act and the Health and Safety at Work Act. The person conducting a business or undertaking must provide information, training and instruction; general construction induction cards sit alongside site-specific induction.
United Kingdom and Ireland
Site induction under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations and the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act. The principal contractor must ensure every worker receives a suitable site induction, and CSCS or Safe Pass cards are checked alongside it.
United States
Safety orientation under OSHA standards, with site-specific hazard communication and the training records an inspector asks for after an incident. OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 cards are commonly checked at the gate.
Gulf states
Worker induction under the UAE and Abu Dhabi occupational safety frameworks, the Saudi labour and OSH regulations and the Qatar labour law, with major operators and megaprojects applying their own contractor HSE standards on top. Arabic and the languages of the workforce matter as much as the rule itself.
Canada and elsewhere
Worker orientation under provincial occupational health and safety acts, with young and new worker rules in several provinces. The software stores whichever card or certificate the site decides to require.
What goes wrong with a morning induction
The induction given at nine to people who started at seven
Workers arrive when the shift starts; the supervisor who gives the induction is already on the floor. The induction happens when someone is free, which is after exposure, not before it. A worker who has been inducted at another site with the same company assumes it carries over, and so does the supervisor. The attendance sheet records a signature, not comprehension, and it lives in a folder that is not where the inspector is standing.
The induction taken before the worker arrives
With induction software the worker receives a link the day before. They watch the site's modules on their phone in their own language, in the van or at home, answer a short test and receive a certificate with a QR code. At the gate the QR is scanned and the system confirms the induction is valid for this site, the required cards are in date and the worker is signed in with a time stamp. Supervisors stop giving inductions and start checking that they were done.
Four steps, in the worker's own language
Register
The worker scans a QR code or opens an invitation link and registers with the fields the site asks for: employer, trade, emergency contact, and photos of the cards the site requires with their expiry dates. A worker who has used the system before at any of your sites is recognised and only confirms their details.
Watch and answer
The site's modules play on the phone, tablet or gate kiosk: narrated slides, videos and documents, with the language chosen on the first screen. A timed test follows with a pass mark and a limit on attempts set by the site.
Certificate
A pass issues a certificate as a PDF with a QR code and an expiry date. The worker keeps it on their phone; the site keeps the record with every attempt and answer.
Scan at the gate
The QR is scanned on the kiosk, the tablet or a supervisor's phone. Valid induction plus valid cards equals a sign-in; anything missing is shown on screen and can be completed at the kiosk. Sign-out is the same scan on the way out.
What is included
Your modules, your test
Upload videos, slides and PDFs, group them into modules per worker category, write the test questions or let the built-in question writer draft them from your content for you to edit.
Multilingual by default
Modules, tests and screens in the languages your workforce speaks, with translation help in the portal. A worker chooses once and everything follows.
Card and licence checks
Construction cards, trade licences, working-at-height and confined-space certificates, with expiry dates. The gate refuses a pass when a required card is missing or out of date.
QR certificate and gate pass
One QR code is both the proof of induction and the sign-in pass. Supervisors verify it with their phone anywhere on site.
Refreshers and re-induction
Validity per module. When a site changes its layout or rules, mark the module as updated and every worker is asked to retake it before their next sign-in.
Live headcount and muster
Everyone signed in, on any phone, with tick-off at the assembly point. Works from the device's own data during an outage.
Toolbox talks and quizzes
Record daily or weekly talks against the workers who attended, and run short quizzes with a leaderboard to keep the rules fresh.
Hazard reports
A worker reports a hazard with a photo from the same phone page; the site team is notified and tracks it to closure.
Audit-ready reports
Induction status by employer and trade, attempts and answers, cards expiring soon and daily attendance, exported to Excel.
Multi-site
Each site has its own modules and rules, and a worker is inducted per site, which is what every regime above expects.
Offline gate
The tablet, iPad and Windows kiosk apps keep inducting and signing in without a connection and sync when it returns.
Optional approval
Route a registration to a supervisor for one- or two-level approval before the pass is valid, for sites that vet workers before entry.
Available on every device at the gate
One subscription, one worker record, whichever hardware the site already has.
The 14-day trial runs on Android tablets, Windows kiosks, the web version and the phone QR pages. The iPad and iPhone apps are the same product and are installed for paying customers during onboarding, because Apple distributes business apps through a developer account that is set up per customer deployment.
Sites with a changing workforce
Construction and civil works
Pre-start induction at the hoarding with card checks and daily attendance for the site diary.
Agriculture and seasonal work
Short, picture-led inductions in several languages for crews who change every week.
Warehousing and logistics
Forklift zones, loading-bay rules and traffic plans, with the induction done before the first shift.
Mining, energy and utilities
Area-specific modules and refreshers enforced at the gate, with the record kept per site.
Events and venues
Hundreds of casual workers inducted on their phones the week before, scanned in at the staff entrance on the day.
Ports and shipyards
Induction, card checks and sign-in for crews, stevedores and visiting trades on one device at the gate.
From sign-up to first inducted worker
Request the trial from this page. We email your portal login, usually within one business day, with a demo site, sample modules and a sample worker, so the whole flow can be seen before anything is uploaded. Replace the samples with your own slides or videos, set the worker categories and the cards each must hold, print the gate QR poster and send the first invitation. The web version works at once; the tablet and Windows apps pair with a QR code from the portal.
Sites that want help producing induction videos, translating modules or connecting turnstiles can ask during the trial. That is done by the team behind our safety training kiosk software and does not change the product you are trialling. For guests and suppliers rather than workers, see the visitor sign-in software and the vendor induction software, which share the same account.
Need it shaped to your company?
The subscription covers the common journey. When your process, hardware or systems are different, we build a customised version for you.
Every customer starts with the same product and configures it from the portal: fields, rules, languages, branding and devices. Some organisations need more than configuration: a flow that follows your own approval chain, screens in your corporate design system, integration with your HR, ERP, access-control or hospital system, a specific badge printer, turnstile or payment terminal, a Windows kiosk built for the hardware you have already bought, or hosting in a particular country. Those are customised versions of the same product, scoped to your requirement and delivered by the team behind our safety training kiosk solutions. Larger estates, multi-country groups and public-sector buyers usually take this route, with a pilot first and a contract that names what is being built.
Tell us what is different about your site and we will come back with a scope, not a sales pitch.
