What is restaurant QR ordering software?
Restaurant QR ordering software lets a guest scan a code on the table, see the menu on their own phone, order and pay, and have the order appear in the kitchen without a member of staff carrying it there. The same software runs a self-ordering kiosk at the counter for guests who prefer a screen on a stand, and a kitchen display that replaces printed tickets with lanes for new, preparing and ready orders. It is the part of a restaurant's day that a small team can hand to the guest without the service feeling worse.
AtashiTech's restaurant QR ordering software is one subscription with three parts: table QR ordering on the guest's phone with nothing to install, a self-ordering kiosk app for Android tablets and kiosk screens, and a kitchen display. Menus, prices, tables, kiosks and reports are managed in a web portal. There is no commission on orders. It grew out of the food ordering kiosk software we build for food courts and quick-service chains, packaged for an independent restaurant to set up on its own, and you can start a 14-day free trial from this page.
Three ways a busy service loses money
None of them show up on a receipt, which is why they persist.
The order that waited
On a full Saturday the table that is ready to order waits for the one server covering twelve tables. The guest who wanted a second drink does not get asked. The kitchen receives orders in bursts because they were taken in bursts. A table that could have turned in fifty minutes takes seventy. QR ordering lets the guest order the moment they are ready and lets the kitchen see it the moment it is placed.
The order that was wrong
A modifier heard across a noisy room, a ticket handwritten in a hurry, a combo rung up as separate items: each one is a remake, a comp or a quiet discount. When the guest chooses the options themselves and the kitchen reads a printed or displayed ticket, the order the kitchen makes is the order the guest asked for.
The commission
Third-party ordering apps take a percentage of every order, including the orders from guests who were already sitting in your restaurant. A flat monthly subscription with no commission means a busy month costs the same as a quiet one.
Table QR ordering in four steps
The kiosk flow is the same with the guest standing at a screen instead of sitting with a phone. Every step is configured per venue in the portal.
Scan the table code
Each table has a printed QR card generated in the portal. Scanning it opens the venue's menu in the phone's browser, already knowing which table it is. Nothing to download, nothing to sign up for.
Browse and build the order
Categories, photos, descriptions and allergen notes. Options such as size, sides and cooking preference, combos, and custom builds for items like pizzas and bowls. Each phone at the table keeps its own cart, so a group orders separately or together.
Pay or send to the kitchen
Venues choose how guests pay: online at the point of ordering, at the counter against an order number, or on the bill at the end. The order is accepted or rejected by the kitchen, and the guest sees its status on the same page.
Kitchen display and serve
The order lands in the kitchen display with a chime, moves through New, Preparing and Ready lanes, and can print a ticket automatically. The server collects it from the pass with the table number on it.
What is included
Table QR ordering
Printable QR cards per table from the portal. Guests order on their own phone in the browser, with a separate cart per phone and a live order status page.
Self-ordering kiosk
The Android kiosk app runs on a tablet on a stand or a floor-standing screen, with an attract screensaver, idle reset and a token number on every order.
Kitchen display
Incoming, new, preparing and ready lanes on any Android screen in the kitchen, with a chime for new orders and optional automatic ticket printing.
Menu with options and combos
Categories, photos, modifiers, combos and custom builds, with per-item availability so a sold-out dish disappears from every phone and kiosk at once.
Coupons and promotions
Percentage and fixed discounts with validity dates and usage limits, applied at the cart on the phone or the kiosk.
Stock control
Stock per item is reduced as orders are placed, so the last portion cannot be sold twice during a rush.
Receipt and ticket printing
USB thermal receipt printers at the kiosk and the kitchen, with a QR code on the receipt that opens the guest's order page.
Payment choices
Pay at the counter against an order number, pay by QR code, or pay online where the venue's payment provider is connected. The venue decides per order type.
Device monitoring
Every kiosk and kitchen screen reports a heartbeat to the portal, can be restarted remotely and can be put into maintenance mode without visiting it.
Your branding
Logo, colours and screensaver images per venue. The guest sees your restaurant on the phone and the kiosk, not ours.
Reports
Sales by item, hour, order type and payment method; kitchen times from placed to ready; coupon use; stock movements.
Multi-venue
Several venues or brands under one login, each with its own menu, tables, devices and reports.
Available on the screens a restaurant already has
Guests use their phones. The kiosk and the kitchen display run on Android tablets or screens. Managers use any browser.
The 14-day trial runs on Android tablets, the web version and the phone QR pages. The iPad kiosk app is the same product and is installed for paying customers during onboarding, because Apple distributes business apps through a developer account that is set up per customer deployment.
QR ordering as an option, not an obligation
Surveys of diners in Europe and North America keep saying the same two things: operators find QR ordering convenient, and a sizeable share of guests, especially older ones, would still rather order from a person. The product is built for both. A table can order from the phone, from a server who enters the order in the same portal, or from the kiosk at the counter, and all three land in the same kitchen display. Menus carry allergen notes against each item, photos help guests who do not read the local language, and the guest's order page shows plainly what they have ordered and what it cost before they confirm.
Guests are not asked to create an account. The order page needs no login and stores nothing about the guest beyond the order itself, which keeps the venue's privacy obligations simple.
Venues that gain the most
Cafés and coffee bars
Order from the table or the counter kiosk at the morning peak, with the barista reading the display instead of a ticket roll.
Pubs and beer gardens
Guests reorder from the garden without finding the bar; the kitchen and the bar each see their own lanes.
Independent restaurants
Table ordering at busy times, server-entered orders at quiet ones, one kitchen display for both.
Food trucks and pop-ups
A QR on the hatch and a kitchen display inside, with stock counts so the menu shrinks as items sell out.
Food courts and canteens
Kiosks at the counter, a token number on each order and the same device monitoring used in our kiosk management platform.
Hotels and venues
Room and poolside ordering through a QR card, routed to the right kitchen and billed to the right account.
From sign-up to first order
Request the trial from this page. You receive a portal login with a sample menu and a sample table already set up, so you can scan a code and place an order within minutes. Replace the sample menu with your own, print the table cards from the portal, and install the kiosk and kitchen display apps on any Android tablet from the link in the portal. The guest ordering page and the portal are web pages and need nothing installed.
Venues that want a card terminal at the kiosk, an existing point-of-sale connected, menu translations or a branded kiosk enclosure can ask during the trial. That is integration work done by the team behind our signage and TV apps and kiosk development service and does not change the product you are trialling.
Need it shaped to your company?
The subscription covers the common journey. When your process, hardware or systems are different, we build a customised version for you.
Every customer starts with the same product and configures it from the portal: fields, rules, languages, branding and devices. Some organisations need more than configuration: a flow that follows your own approval chain, screens in your corporate design system, integration with your HR, ERP, access-control or hospital system, a specific badge printer, turnstile or payment terminal, a Windows kiosk built for the hardware you have already bought, or hosting in a particular country. Those are customised versions of the same product, scoped to your requirement and delivered by the team behind our food-ordering kiosk solutions. Larger estates, multi-country groups and public-sector buyers usually take this route, with a pilot first and a contract that names what is being built.
Tell us what is different about your site and we will come back with a scope, not a sales pitch.
